1.
We put the butterfly and the caterpillar puppet in a basket, cover it with a tablecloth or a towel. They have to guess which puppet they are holding without looking. After they guess they can take it out.
2.
Acting out the very hungry caterpillar. While we told the story (not for the first time) we try to act it out. Each time they have to pick the fruits from a basket, act like they eat it. (one apple, two pears, three plums, four strawberries, five oranges) When the caterpillar isn’t hungry anymore, the kids lay down like a coccoon on the rug. When we touch their heads they turn into a beautiful butterfly.
3.
Very hungry caterpillar memory cards. From the story we picked 9 items (sun, moon, leaf, coccon caterpillar, butterfly, apple, plum, pear) and play with them as a memory game.
4.
Blow a leaf! Show one colored leaf to the children and discuss the color (What color is it?), after that repeat the color 3 times. Play that we hold one in our hands and try to blow it carefully.
5.
Pick a colored (green, orange, yellow, brown) leaf! After we blew all the leaves, we put the leaves in the centre of the circle. Each kid have to pick one based on what color we say. „Pick a green leaf!”
6.
Autumn winds circle game: With the picked leaf we stand up and play the rhyme together in a circle. „Autumn wind are blowing – imitate the wind’s sound. Colored leaves are falling – fall motion with the leaves. Twirling, whirling, all around – turn self around. Till at last, they touch the ground – fall to the ground and put down the leaves. For ending this game ask the children to give the leaves back to us, but only one type of color at each time.
